Back from Hibernation

The sun seems to have finally found its way back to Sweden, and that means no more hibernation. The end of 2011 was a very busy year and I started 2012 with some very interesting (and challenging) projects that I will post here on my blog (as soon as they go official).

I have also some plans on rebuilding my portfolio (and blog) if times lets me. I have some nice ideas but when you are not a coder, “simple” things aren’t always that simple. But we’ll see.

I’m back. Again. I end this post with a quote from no other than Paul Rand:

“The designer is not always right. The researcher is not always wrong. Profit is not always the motive; market research, whatever its outcome, should never be used as a good excuse for bad design – in the same sense that good design should never be used to promote a bad product”.

Some new updates

With my “new” portfolio and all I felt that some of my work isn’t presented in the best possible way. So I’ve been putting a lot of time and effort in taking new photos and thinking of better ways to showcase my design. I still have some cases left but I’m getting there. The plan is to have new presentations up by the end of today.

Worth mentioning is that I’ve also began on a personal project called “Love is gonna break your heart”. The first piece of the project is a poster that I hope will be finished within this week. I’m very excited about this one!

A fresh new start

I’ve been thinking of it ever since i redesigned my portfolio a couple of months ago, but I didn’t have time to really fulfill the vision I had in my mind. So after some technical research, trial and errors, I finally cracked the code and managed to do what I wanted (well, almost, there are still some details left that I’m gonna improve when I find the time). I’ve merged my portfolio and blog into “one”.

My portfolio is no longer just a bunch of static HTML-pages with some basic include-files. It’s now running on wordpress so that I can organise my work easier, place posts in categories and tag them they way I want it. So much better.

And as you probably noticed I have also moved my blog from my other domain (encina.se) to this one. Why? I haven’t had a clear view on what or why before, so I stepped back a bit and looked at the whole picture. And it didn’t make sense. Why should I spread everything on different platforms and domains when I could collect everything in one place. Very stupid.

The result of it all is pretty basic. I’ve killed my darlings and started to be more focused. So from now on you will find my work, my progress, my inspiration and my thoughts all in one place. Welcome to my fresh new start!
