I’ve been a huge fan of typography for as long as I remember, and I’m pretty sure some of that love is shown in my design. I always tend to play around with type trying to find new ways and solutions for different design problems. But there is one thing I’ve never really done – my very own typeface (well, I have, but it was long time ago and not a complete typeface). So here is a teaser of the very first stage of my process in illustrator where I’m trying out some shapes and angles. When I have found the right feeling that I’m looking for I will dig myself into the gritty details and start producing all the glyphs.
Winston DC wins gold

I’m happy to be part of Winston DC that just won gold in Resume’s competition for “Customer’s Best Agency 2011″ in Sweden. It means a lot to work together with clients who are satisfied with what you accomplish. Probably the best proof of recognition you can get!

Straight from the Netherlands comes “Noir” by Sit. Black and White at its best!

Here is a teaser of something I’m currently working on. I don’t want to reveal too much right now, but might add that the inspiration comes from the typical (?) Swedish “less is more” thinking. There are still a lot left to improve but I am so far satisfied with the beginning of the design.
I finally found some spare time to finish the artwork for “Love is gonna break your heart”. And I must say I’m pretty happy with it! The artwork is inspired by love, life and the feeling you get after a struggle when you manage to pull through and do something great.

Typography
The type treatments was something I’ve played around with a while ago, but for this artwork I went back to it and did some adjustments to it. I modified some of the letters and fixed some kerning to get a better result than before.

The steps in Photoshop
Here is a very basic overview of the process in Photoshop. I started with the background and texture before I placed the type and added the girl. In the final step I’ve done a lot of work with the colours and light, making the image come to life.

You can find some more details and process in my portfolio or over at Behance.

A new free font has been released by The League of Moveable Type and designed byTyler Finck. The font contains of Dashed (thin), Rounded (medium), Ultra light, Normal, Bold (race track style double lines) and Black.
Embrace failure

Pretty much everyone fears failure. But it’s been said more than once, and I’m sure you all have heard it before – embrace failure and learn from it. And without further ado, I’m gonna leave this subject to someone far more experienced than I am. A great and inspiring man by the name of Milton Glaser.
“There’s only one solution: You must embrace failure. You must admit what is. You must find out what you’re capable of doing, and what you’re not capable of doing. That is the only way to deal with the issue of success and failure because otherwise you simply would never subject yourself to the possibility that you’re not as good as you want to be, hope to be, or as others think you are.” – Milton Glaser
The Eco Hotel Group

This is an old favourite of mine. I did it years ago when I was studying in Sydney and we got an assignment to design products for The Eco Hotel Group – an environmentally friendly hotel. All the products had to meet a certain standard and be eco-friendly. The shape of my design was inspired by mother nature (specially trees and the branches) and by this make the connection to the environment even stronger.

After a lot of research I decided that my material was going to be Cornstarch since it’s biodegradable, it’s toxic free and most important, it’s based on natural resources.
The method used to create all the products is by stretch blow moulding. In the Stretch Blow Molding (SBM) process, the plastic is first molded into a “preform” using the Injection Molded Process. These preforms are produced with the necks of the products, including threads (the “finish”) on one end. These preforms are packaged, and fed later (after cooling) into an EBM blow molding machine. In the SBM process, the preforms are heated (typically using infrared heaters) above their glass transition temperature, then blown using high pressure air into bottles using metal blow molds. Usually the preform is stretched with a core rod as part of the process.

I don’t know what to say really. Joe Fenton knows how to use his hands. I think I’ll just leave it at that. Beautiful! Take a look at some more of his amazing art.
